Tender

Rib Calf Socks - Mohair - Tan Wattle Dyed

$ 28
Size:

Knitted and hand linked in England, Tender's Cotton rib Socks are crafted from a natural, unbleached mohair yarn, with nylon added for durability. Left in their "unborn" state, the socks will shrink with their first wash. These socks are knit as a long, continuous tube, then cut apart into individual socks, with the toe hand linked.

These socks are dyed with acacia wood, which is known by other names such as wattle, mimosa, or cutchwood. Acacia wood is a thorny tree, with a native range spanning from Australia, India, and China, and has been used for millenia in leather tanning and fabric dying. The term wattle came to prominence as acacia wood twigs were employed by 19th century British settlers in the Antipodes in the construction of shelter, using ancient "wattle and daub" method of weaving twigs together and plastering them with mud.
