The IH-634S-142od begins as a finished pair of IH-634S-142 jeans, which are then overdyed. The 634 straight fit, modeled after the 1966 Levi's 501, features a medium rise, a slight taper from knee to hem, and a leg opening wide enough to accommodate most boots.
The denim underneath is Iron Heart's 14oz right-hand twill, woven with a double-twisted weft yarn—the same approach Iron Heart uses in their signature 21oz denim—over a rope-dyed indigo warp and white weft. At 14oz it's the lightest weight in the Iron Heart lineup, easy to wear off the rack without the same break-in period the heavier fabrics have.
The overdye process covers the denim and the stitching together, and oxidizes the hardware to a duller, aged finish. What separates it from a true black denim is what happens as it wears: the black dye sits on top of the indigo, so as it breaks down at the high-wear points, the fades come through with a blue cast rather than grey. The dyeing process itself removes whatever shrinkage remained after sanforization and the wash, so no further shrinkage is expected with normal care. This style can measure slightly smaller than the standard version of this jean—please check the measurements against your size to ensure the best fit.
