Iron Heart's 21oz Superblack "Fades to Grey" denim is one of the most compelling fabrics in their lineup. The warp is dyed with black sulphur dye and the weft with a black reactive dye, resulting in a deep black color out of the box. With wear and washing, the sulphur-dyed warp fades to grey while the reactive-dyed weft stays black, creating a tonal grey-on-black contrast that's unique to this fabric.
The denim is woven with a double-twisted weft yarn in a right-hand twill, and even at 21 ounces, it's pliable and easy wearing, and woven at a lower tension, resulting in a softness and breathability that isn't common at this weight. Our experience says that a few weeks of wear will break this denim in nicely; rather than fighting against movement, it conforms well to one's shape and natural rhythm.
The 888 is a relaxed tapered cut, with a medium to high rise, roomy top block and thighs, and tapers noticeably from the knee down. It's a contemporary shape that works well for bigger legs without looking careless, and the higher rise sits comfortably at the natural waist. Features all the classic Iron Heart construction details we've come to expect.

The 888 has a modern tapered style with a more relaxed fit. It features a medium to high rise, roomy top block and thighs, and a pronounced taper from the knee down. Generally fits over pull-on boots without issue. We find that Iron Heart jeans will stretch an inch in the waist after a few weeks of wear, with other dimensions stretching in proportion to the waist.
