D4609 13.5oz "Kurozome" Overdyed Natural Indigo Selvedge Jacket
This jacket tells a story in its dyeing alone. Studio D'Artisan starts with their 13.5oz natural indigo-dyed selvedge denim and then sends the completed garment to Kyoto Montsuki artisans, who overdye it by hand using a centuries-old black dyeing technique known as kurozome. The process layers a black pigment derived from betel nuts over the natural indigo base, requiring careful temperature adjustments throughout the dye bath to achieve the deepest possible black. The result is an incredibly saturated tone with an underlying complexity — as the garment wears and the black surface layer reveals hints of the indigo beneath, this jacket will develop a fade profile unlike anything else in your closet. The jacket is cut with a Type II silhouette with handwarmer pockets and adjustable waist buttons.
