Nothing wasted, nothing compromised. The ELS Recycled Cotton Slub is built from a three-way blend: light, airy recycled cotton from yarn-spinning factories, recycled cotton from the offcuts of Wonder Looper's own Double Heavyweight T-shirt, and luxurious Extra Long Staple organic cotton. Knit at low tension and slow speed, the result is a fabric that's soft and bouncy yet dense and full of character — with a naturally uneven slub surface that gives it a warmth and depth well beyond its 280 GSM weight.
This one is dyed by hand in Amami, an island chain in southern Japan with a centuries-old natural dyeing tradition. Color starts with the Sharinbai tree, native to the islands, whose wood yields a warm, rosy tannin dye. The garment is then finished with dorozome, Amami's mud-dyeing technique, soaked in iron-rich mud so the minerals bond with the tannin and settle the color into a deeper, earthier tone. The slub texture works in its favor here: the uneven surface takes the dye at slightly different rates, giving the finished shade noticeable depth rather than a flat, even wash.
