Cotton Rib Socks - Viridian
Knitted and hand linked in England, Tender's Cotton rib Socks are crafted from an unbleached cotton yarn, with nylon added for durability. Left in their "unborn" state, the socks will shrink with their first wash. These socks are knit as a long, continuous tube, then cut apart into individual socks, with the toe hand linked.
These socks are dyed with Viridian, a green pigment derived from a stable oxide of Chromium, patented by Guignet of Paris in 1859. Because of its improved per- manence and even colour it was a preferred pigment of artists including Van Gogh, Paul Klee, and Wassily Kandinsky, whose Green (1931) was painted almost entirely in viridian.
